Our mission is to make it easier for African students to find and win real, fully-funded scholarships. Too many strong applicants miss opportunities simply because they never heard about them in time, or didn’t know how to put together a competitive application.
Scholarza’s directory brings together scholarships from governments, universities, and foundations around the world — searchable by country, funding type, and study level. Every listing carries a real deadline, and closed opportunities are removed automatically so you’re never chasing something that’s already shut.
Beyond the directory, our free AI application tools help you build a stronger CV, tighten your personal statement, and get feedback on your essay before you submit — all tuned for the kind of application African students are actually writing, not generic templates built for someone else’s context.
Scholarza is built and operated by Waesta Enterprises U Ltd, a software development company based in Kampala, Uganda, working across East Africa.
We started Scholarza after watching too many capable students lose out on funding for reasons that had nothing to do with their potential — a deadline they found out about two days too late, an application built from a template that didn’t match what the reviewer was actually looking for, or a listing on another site that turned out to be months out of date. None of that is a talent problem. It’s an information problem, and it’s solvable.
How We Choose What Goes in the Directory
Every scholarship on Scholarza is checked against its official source — the government ministry, university, or foundation actually running the programme — before it goes live. We link to that official page for the final application, rather than trying to route applications through our own site, because your documents and personal information belong with the actual funder, not with us. Listings are reviewed and refreshed regularly, and once a deadline passes, that listing is pulled from the active directory rather than left online to mislead people searching later.
What We Actually Cover
Our directory spans government scholarships (DAAD, Chevening, Chinese Government Scholarship, Global Korea Scholarship), regional and Pan-African programmes (Pan African University, Mandela Rhodes, Mastercard Foundation), and foundation or corporate bursaries (Vodacom, Heinrich Böll Foundation). Alongside listings, our blog covers the practical side of applying — how to structure a CV reviewers will actually read, what a strong motivation letter looks like for a specific funder, and how to avoid the mistakes that get otherwise-strong applications rejected. We also maintain a curated list of free online courses worth taking before you apply, since a completed, relevant course is real evidence for several scholarship applications.
How Scholarza Is Funded
Scholarza is free to use, with no login required to browse the scholarship directory. The site is supported through display advertising and, over time, a small number of paid digital study guides — never through fees for accessing scholarship listings, and never through commissions tied to a specific scholarship provider. We don’t accept payment from any organisation in exchange for a listing appearing in the directory or ranking higher within it.
